Woh, a new API, thanks for the pointer - checks MSDN - ok, that only works
if you constrain yourself to running XP SP1.

Sadly, my app still needs to run back to NT4 (and yes, we get a significant
number of sales for that to be worth while).  I don't know what Brian
intends for his "general library" but I'm betting that supporting "just the
latest variant of Windows" may not be his aim.

However, your point is noted and I will adjust my responses to future
discussion of this topic.
