I'm a sole developer working on source and artwork. I'm using 2 year old Photoshop and Lightwave versions for my artwork. As a code developer I'd love to get stuck in to some s3tc coding as this seems pretty cool for things like conserving texture memory and increasing load speed. However, I'm concerned about art specific standard not supporting these coder friendly formats. I know that there is a plugin for Photoshop to allow creation \ editing of .dds files. I'm curious however about things like using this format with things like Lightwave. Does anyone here have coders using s3tc within Lightwave, or would I need to write a plugin to allow it to 'see' s3tc bitmap's?
