[GD-Linux] text to speech and speech recognition libraries

Does anyone know of libraries providing functionality a la Microsoft's
Speech SDK for Linux and/ or Mac?

I'm interested in both speech recognition and speech synthesis =
functionality
as we utilize them for the Windows version of UT2004 and wouldn't mind
having equivalent features for the Mac/Linux version.
