In that case, I bet its the very first thing that they do before their
install even starts.  Then after the reboot, they start their install.
It looks like its all one install, but its really just sequencing the
DX stuff before the application proper gets installed.

However, be aware that many users are irritated by games that update
their system components without their express permission :)
