^C will copy sci (i.e. 5e-7), but ^V accepts this as "507". If ^V failed to paste anything, I would consider it a feature request. However, since ^V pastes an erroneous number, I consider this a bug. It caused me some grief this morning since I type fast enough not to have noticed this behavior immediately!
