I'm using Gabber 0.8.8 (compiled from SRPM) on Gnome 1,
and the status docklet is always displayed (as a
separate window), despite "Show status docklet" being
unchecked.

Workaround:
Open the file ~/.gnome/Gabber, find the [StatusIcon] section
and change the line "Show=true" to "Show=false".

I have this same problem with 0.8.8 (Debian unstable).
Window manager is fvwm 1.24r. The posted workaround fixes
the issue.
