I have noticed a problem with the GnomeManualDuplex (Virtual printer)'s CUPS defaults: specifically, the paper size is out-of-sync with both my word processor AND the 'real' printer's CUPS configuraton. Since I'm having a slight printing problem at the top of the second page (other thread) I thought I should try to make everything consistent.
When I make the change, CUPS appears not to recognize the words that work for the 'real' printer and that is: root, root - for Username and Passoword.
If I'm able to make the change, it doesn't 'stick'. Or, CUPS may ask me repeatedly for my username and password. Is this possibly different from root, root, or is there some other reason I can't 'get into' this account?

$ system-config-printer
GnomeManualDuplex -> Printer Options -> Page size -> US Letter -> OK
# OR other setting like A4
