Good Day, I just set up rsyslog to sort messages so that iptables log results go to /var/log/iptables while all others go to the regular /var/log/messages, but I cannot figure out how to prevent the iptables log results from showing up in dmesg. The problem of course is that dmesg gets flushed out, making it useless for any other function for which it is designed, such as, for example, checking for critical errors from your kernel :-) Is it possible to supress the iptables logging results such that they don't flood dmesg? I am talking of course about lines like this: RULE 18 -- ACCEPT IN=eth2 OUT= MAC=ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:00:1a:4d:40:77:36:08:00 SRC=10.0.1.2 DST=10.255.255.255 LEN=78 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=128 ID=3002 PROTO=UDP SPT=137 DPT=137 LEN=58 I searched all over the net and found lots of people who had the same problem, but no solutions, so I suspect maybe it's not possible. Thanks very much and have a wonderful day, -Jesse -- Nikola Engineering Inc. 224 W. Washington St. Suite 104 Sequim, WA 98382-3371 Tel (360)582-1051 Fax (360)582-1104 |
