The NTFS-3G numbers are a bit old. The current sustained write record is 
902 MB/s (unoptimized).

Typically the fs design and the quality of the implementation dominates 
performance. 

FUSE can be considered as a very low latency, high performance in-kernel 
network file system. From this point of view, claiming that "user space" 
file system are slow is a hypocracy ;-)
