The Fuse team note today’s announcement from Retro Computers Ltd that the Vega+ handheld will be using a modified version of Fuse to provide its Spectrum emulation, and that Retro Computers Ltd intend to fully comply with their obligations under the GNU GPL to provide the source to the version of Fuse which will run on the Vega+. Portability has always been one of Fuse’s goals, so we are pleased that it has been able to be made to run on another new platform. For avoidance of doubt: - The Fuse team were not aware that Fuse was going to be used in the Vega+ until the end of 2016. One of the fundamental tenets of open source software is that there is no requirement to communicate use of the software, so this does not represent any breach of the GNU GPL by Retro Computers Ltd. - No members of the team were involved in the porting of Fuse to the Vega+. - No members of the team have received any compensation, monetary or otherwise, for the use of Fuse in the Vega+. Given the ongoing disputes around the Vega+, the Fuse team do not intend to make any further statements on this matter unless there is a material change in circumstances. Cheers, Phil on behalf of the Fuse team |
