Hello all freevoers, Announcing that the new releases of Freevo-1.7.8 and Freevo-1.8.1 are available for downloading from sourceforge.net, http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=46652 First the release statistics, from release 1.7.7 to 1.7.8 there have are 10 new items and 83 changes. From release 1.8.1 to 1.8.2 there have are 46 new items and 154 changes. The goal for these releases was simply to consolidate any problems from the big jump of using kaa.rpc in the 1.8 series. To fix anything that was broken or became broken. Most of the my efforts are going into the 1.8 series, so if you are still running a 1.7 series or earlier it may be time to think about upgrading. There is a page on the wiki that will help if you only want to try it out. http://doc.freevo.org/SourceSVNInstallation What's new in 1.7.8 - New auto start plug-in to send events at start up (Andreas Dick) - New lcd plug-in (lcd2) (Andreas Dick) - New idlebar sensors plug-in (sensors2) (Torsten Kurbad) - New video menu plug-in to remove commercials (Andrew Jeffery) - New video plug-in to supply video information from xine (Andreas Dick) - New video wwitv plug-in for streaming TV from wwitv.com (Fabrizio Regondi) - Updated audio album tree plug-in with support for ogg files (Frank Naude) - Updated fxd audio to allow radio tuner to be mixed with web radio (Andreas Dick) - Updated French moviecovers for additional search in the forum (Sylvain Fabre) - Updated French translation (Pascal Schirrmann) - Updated headline plug-in to use feedparser and fixes entities (Henne Vogelsang) - Updated image viewer to allow a configuration variable of auto start (Andreas Dick) - Updated plugins helper to work with __init__.py modules (Adam Charrett) - Updated somafm with new stations (Gorka Olaizola) - Updated tv guide to jump to now at the end of watching TV (Freedy) What else is new in 1.8.1 - New DVB/ATSC live pause plug-in video overlay (Adam Charrett) - New helper module (vg) to generate TV_VIDEO_GROUPS for analogue TV cards - New webserver (old) media library module - Updated French translation (Pascal Schirrmann) - Updated Spanish translation (Gorka Olaizola) - Updated TV record post processing to automatically re-encode a recording (Andrew Jeffery) There is a lot of additional fixes from lots of people and the full list is available at http://doc.freevo.org/ChangeLog. A real big thanks to everyone who has contributed to the development of the Freevo 1 series. And all of you who have used Freevo. The poll is still open for you comments on where Freevo should improve: http://www.doodle.ch/participation.html?pollId=yp6maagr5kgagkk5 Yes I know it says OK when you have ticked a box, I misused a event planner for a poll. So OK means that it's not okay. It is quite clear that the favourite is the configuration of freevo, followed my music. Just a couple of points about these comments, For configuration there are freevo web page that allows configuration to be configured for both plug-ins and the core. They are at: http://localhost:80/pluginconfig.rpy and http://localhost:80/config.rpy these were kindly written by Doc Locke. Music, have your tried the MPD plug-in yet? Also the best way to search for plugins is to use the "freevo plugins -l" command, find something that is of interest, like MPD and then run the command "freevo plugins -i audio.mpd_playlist" to find out what it is all about and what can be configured in your local_conf.py I'll go through the poll's comment in more detail in another email. Have fun, Duncan BTW I sent this last night but it didn't seem to get through... |
