Version 1.0.1 of freesplitter is available

There aren't any new functions in this release, so if you have a working version installed then there is no need to update it.

Changes in this version are:
- Program won't run if QT version is lower than 3.0.5, this is because of a compatibility issue.
- Added several more searchpaths for the image data. No more popup if you're compiling with prefix /opt/kde3, etc...

Important: If you want to download the RPM packages make sure you pick the right one. The i386 package was compiled on an (older) RedHat 7.3 system with gcc 2.96. This is the package you probebly want if you're using a slightly older distribution (RedHat <= 7.3, SuSE <= 8.0, ...). If you're using a newer distribution (RedHat 8, SuSE 8.1, ...) then you should install the i586 or noarch package that was compiled on a SuSE 8.1 system using gcc 3.2.... read more

Added RPM Package for SuSE 8.1 (gcc 3.2)

Apperently SuSE changed something critcal in it's new release of Linux rendering packages compiled for SuSE 8.0 useless.
I've added an extra package for SuSE 8.1 to the files.
The older packages will still be available since i don't know if the new package will work on older versions of SuSE. If anybody want's to check this please let me know about the result.
This package should work for newer distributions using packages compiled with GCC 3.2

Final release (1.0.0) is out

The final release (version 1.0.0) of Freesplitter is out.
The application is able to split/merge files, with support for changeble media (floppy, tape, ...). I've made the program safer to use than the last version (errormessage when disk is full) and added the help content. Help is kinda limited but this isn't exactly a hard to use application.

The binary packages where compiled on a system with SuSE 8.0, QT-3.0.5 and glibc 2.2.5. They should work on any recent distribution.

New release 0.3.0

This new release has some fixes on problems that i prefiously overlooked and now has full support for changeble media.
When you cancel an opperation the already written data won't be left behind any more but 'll be removed from your disk. Furthermore i've also added tooltip help and a helpscreen (the text is still to be written though).

The binary packages where compiled on a SuSE 8.0 system with QT-3.0.5 and glibc 2.2.5. They should work on any normal distribution though.

Binary packages are now available

I've generated rpm packgages for folowing architectures (i386, i586, noarch (no architecture)) and a source package.
All of these packages where compiled on a SuSE 8.0 system with QT-3 and glibc version 2.2.5. They should work on any big distro.

Revision 0.2.1 released

I've released a new version (0.2.1) that contains some minor fixes. Progress indication for the last splitted part is now correct. I've also improved the detection of the installation path.

New release version 0.2.0

This release contains fixes to some problems that i've overlooked in the previous version and no longer needs the installpath parameter to show the icons.
The program is now capable of searching for it's own shared files and will store this localy. If the file's aren't found you'll be prompted for them.

Furthermore i've added some safeties and made it more user-friendly.

The next minor release will contain support for changeble media. I might also release a revision version in the meantime with some bugfixes.

First functional release.

I've released a fully functinal version (0.1.0) of the program. There are still some functions to be added, like support for changeble media, etc... but the app is capable of splitting and merging files flawlessly.
You can grab the newest version at the files section.

Furter developemt will be focused on support for changeble media, making the program more user friendly, probebly fix some bug and getting the program to store the path where the icons are located.... read more

Third and last prerelease is available

I've uploaded a third prerelease of freesplitter. This version has a working splitter (with fully functional progressdialog), a merger interface (doesn't merge yet though) and a aboutscreen.
Next release will be alpha and will contain a working merger. This should take to long so keep an eye open...

New screenshots on site

I've uploaded some screenshots of the splitter in action.
You can find them on the projects website. http://freesplitter.sourceforge.net

CVS has working splitter

The current cvs repository contains a working version of the splitter. The splitter no longer uses a multithreaded engine - since that didn't work anyway.
The next release will be here soon if everything goes as planned.

New Prerelease #2

I've added a new prerelease. This release actualy splits the files correctly. There are still some problems with the refresh of the progresswidget. Thats the first thing i'll try to fix for the next release. Changeble media and some safety checks (wheiter a file exists or not) will be added later since they are not a real priority in my opinion.
Enjoy...

Current status

I'm almost as good as finished with splitter's GUI (split) and expect to get the engine working soon.
When all that's done i'll release a new version and start implementing the merge part. After that it's just a case of getting rid of the rough edges.

First file release

I've released a first pre-alpha version of Freesplitter, only GUI functionality for now but i hope to release something working soon.

Progress

The splitter's gui is half done and i think i'll be able to release something working soon. Support for changeble media, the merging part, ... will be added later on.

cvs repository

The cvs repository only contains a part of the gui for now. Most of the functionalities still have to be added.
