Freeplane has suddenly become so slow it's unusable on Kubuntu 17.04.

Moving canvas or editing nodes takes half a second on each mouse move or keystroke.

I tried this (and it didn't solve the problem):
- opening the tutorial on a fresh download with default config ;
- downgrading to older versions back to 1.5.10 ;
- running it on Java 1.8.0_121, as prescribed in https://sourceforge.net/p/freeplane/bugs/2498/

I depend on Freeplane for my work on a daily basis so I'd be very grateful if someone could help me soon.

    I do not think it is a freeplane specific issue.

    You can experiment with different java versions starting with java 7 and with different freeplane version.
    May be you find that java needs some option to become faster like described in https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1129187 . May be the problem relates to some changes like described on https://www.ubuntu.com/usn/

    I would also recommend you to write posts in forums like https://sourceforge.net/p/freeplane/discussion/758437/, may be somebody could give you a hint.

    And if you find a solution please share it.

    Regards,
    Dimitry
