Category: None Group: None >Status: Closed Resolution: Invalid Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: vasiliana katanou (vasilianaoeo) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: The connection server has been lost when pressing "turn 1" Initial Comment: I started playing the game and when I clicked on "turn 1" the above message appeared. Then I clicked on ok and the game was terminated. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Ondrej Riha (ondrejr) Date: 2009-12-23 02:29 Message: This bug may be related with bug 2770874. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Ondrej Riha (ondrejr) Date: 2009-09-20 15:58 Message: Somewhere in Windows regional settings, keyboard or similar place(I don't have Windows) there is option to turn on utf or another language. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: vasiliana katanou (vasilianaoeo) Date: 2009-05-25 11:13 Message: So, I'm sure that file never produced because I have a problem with options too. The main problem seems to be the greek language of my operating system. I checked out the replies of the other bug I submitted and the main problem seems to be the same-about non english characters. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Geoff Topping (geoffthemedio) Date: 2009-05-24 21:13 Message: As far as I know, the installer doesn't create config.xml. It's generated by running the program with -g or by changing something in the options in the GUI or by the command-line. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: vasiliana katanou (vasilianaoeo) Date: 2009-05-24 20:20 Message: No config.xml produced...maybe this is the problem.I wrote that I deleted that file but actually I'm not quite sure if I deleted the right one.Is there any possibility of not existing from the beginning? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Geoff Topping (geoffthemedio) Date: 2009-05-21 19:36 Message: In the start menu, run "cmd". >From the command prompt that pops up, cd to whatever directory you have freeorion installed in. This might be: cd c:\program files\freeorion Once in that directory, run freeorion: freeorion -g This should produce a config.xml in C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\FreeOrion ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: vasiliana katanou (vasilianaoeo) Date: 2009-05-18 12:32 Message: I deleted config.xml, I ran freeorion but I can't open the options screen-as I mentioned in another bug, the options button exits the program.I tried the commmand line but it can't recognize the commands. Can you tell me what exactly am I supposed to write in order to run freeorion from the command line?Coz either I don't write it right (probably), or there is a problem to open it from there. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Geoff Topping (geoffthemedio) Date: 2009-05-17 14:51 Message: Re: So the common theme seems to be the weird messed-up character networking exception. And the graphic buffer creation issue, although if issues are appearing when clicking Turn 1, then there must be cases where the program gets past the buffer creation. That said, after deleting config.xml and trying running the program again as requested elsewhere, to get a new config.xml (run the program and open the options screen, or run "freeorion -g" from the command line) and edit it to set the following fields to 0 (instead of the default 1): <galaxy-gas-background>0</galaxy-gas-background> <galaxy-starfields>0</galaxy-starfields> <optimized-system-rendering>0</optimized-system-rendering> (and save the config.xml file again) and then try running freeorion again, to see if that helps in any test case. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Geoff Topping (geoffthemedio) Date: 2009-05-17 14:11 Message: In another posted log, the last lines are a combination of the graphic buffer and networking issues: 2009-04-18 22:09:24,812 DEBUG Client : Turn initialization new graphic buffer creation 2009-04-18 22:09:34,437 DEBUG Client : ClientNetworking::NetworkingThread() : Networking thread will be terminated due to disconnect exception "Ìéá õðÜñ÷ïõóá óýíäåóç äéáêüðçêå õðï÷ñåùôéêÜ áðü ôïí áðïìáêñõóìÝíï õðïëïãéóôÞ" Note that this apparently took 10 seconds between starting buffer creation and the crash. In *that* file, the tech tree setup didn't have any errors occur, so I suspect that's not the problem: 2009-04-18 22:09:16,109 DEBUG Client : Tech Tree Layout Preparing Tech Data 2009-04-18 22:09:16,125 DEBUG Client : Tech Tree Layout Doing Graph Layout 2009-04-18 22:09:16,156 DEBUG Client : Tech Tree Layout Creating Panels 2009-04-18 22:09:18,515 DEBUG Client : Tech Tree Layout Done 2009-04-18 22:09:18,515 DEBUG Client : Tech List Box Populating 2009-04-18 22:09:21,000 DEBUG Client : Tech List Box Done Populating 2009-04-18 22:09:21,000 DEBUG Client : Creation time=2250ms 2009-04-18 22:09:21,000 DEBUG Client : Insertion time=234ms So the common theme seems to be the weird messed-up character networking exception. Perhaps the messed-up characters are related to the UTF-8 issues from the options crash? Please answer the questions in that comment thread. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Geoff Topping (geoffthemedio) Date: 2009-05-17 14:05 Message: In several of your freeorion.log files, the last line is: 2009-04-24 18:11:08,640 DEBUG Client : Turn initialization new graphic buffer creation This debug line is right before a bunch of OpenGL instructions that have caused problems for people with older graphics cards, although yours seems to support GL 2.0 so I don't know why there would be a problem... There are also a number of lines in the client log file along the lines of: ClientNetworking::NetworkingThread() : Networking thread will be terminated due to disconnect exception "Ìéá õðÜñ÷ïõóá óýíäåóç äéáêüðçêå õðï÷ñåùôéêÜ áðü ôïí áðïìáêñõóìÝíï õðïëïãéóôÞ" In two cases, this appears in the middle of doing tech tree setup... although not exactly the same place: 2009-04-24 18:10:59,109 DEBUG Client : Tech Tree Layout Creating Panels 2009-04-24 18:11:01,828 DEBUG Client : Tech Tree Layout Done 2009-04-24 18:11:01,828 DEBUG Client : Tech List Box Populating 2009-04-24 18:11:03,906 DEBUG Client : ClientNetworking::NetworkingThread() : Networking thread will be terminated due to disconnect exception "Ìéá õðÜñ÷ïõóá óýíäåóç äéáêüðçêå õðï÷ñåùôéêÜ áðü ôïí áðïìáêñõóìÝíï õðïëïãéóôÞ" 2009-04-24 18:11:04,875 DEBUG Client : Tech List Box Done Populating ... 2009-05-04 18:23:18,953 DEBUG Client : Tech Tree Layout Creating Panels 2009-05-04 18:23:20,562 DEBUG Client : ClientNetworking::NetworkingThread() : Networking thread will be terminated due to disconnect exception "Ìéá õðÜñ÷ïõóá óýíäåóç äéáêüðçêå õðï÷ñåùôéêÜ áðü ôïí áðïìáêñõóìÝíï õðïëïãéóôÞ" 2009-05-04 18:23:21,359 DEBUG Client : Tech Tree Layout Done 2009-05-04 18:23:21,359 DEBUG Client : Tech List Box Populating 2009-05-04 18:23:23,796 DEBUG Client : Tech List Box Done Populating I wouldn't expect the delay in the GUI that accompanies several seconds of layout or list populating to cause networking to die, and the not-quite-the-same timing suggests it might be a conincidence that the networking crashes are reported around the same stage. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Zach Laine (tzlaine) Date: 2009-05-17 09:22 Message: That may be a fact, but that fact won't help me fix the problem. If you can't state the minimal steps to reproduce this problem, or some hint as to why this is happening on your system and not mine, I won't be able to fix anything. I don't want you to be unable to play FO. I want to fix the problem. You just haven't given me enough information to do anything about it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: vasiliana katanou (vasilianaoeo) Date: 2009-05-17 07:51 Message: The fact is that because of that problem I can't move on the game.I can't end the round and go to the next turn.I tried it many times but the result is always the same-I'm stuck in the first turn! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Zach Laine (tzlaine) Date: 2009-05-16 20:44 Message: There's not much to go on here. If you can add more info before the bug is auto-deleted in two weeks, we'll try to fix it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: vasiliana katanou (vasilianaoeo) Date: 2009-05-04 10:27 Message: I chose the "single playre" game and that time, when I clicked on "turn 1" it didn't stuck like the pther time, but the message about losing connection to the server appeared-like the "quickstart" problem.I attached the files. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: vasiliana katanou (vasilianaoeo) Date: 2009-04-24 10:29 Message: That problem occurs after the error message appears. It happens when I choose "quickstart" so I can't change the stars number. When I choose "single player" the problem is that when i click on "turn 1" it stucks! So,I see the same screen on the monitor just witout the message about the lost connection to the server. The files I attached are from "quickstart" with the lost connection message. My OS is Window XP 32bit and I use freeorion v0.3.12. And as for the firewall, freeorion is allowed to run. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Geoff Topping (geoffthemedio) Date: 2009-04-22 18:30 Message: Is this occuring after your get a message about freeoriond.exe crashing after starting a game that's mentioned in your other bug report? freeoriond.exe is the server. If it crashes, but your client keeps playing the turn, and then you click to end the turn, the server is already gone, so it's not surprising that the client has lost its server connection. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Geoff Topping (geoffthemedio) Date: 2009-04-22 18:23 Message: Please give some details when posting bug reports, and post log files. Is this reproducible? What version of FreeOrion? On what OS? Do you have any firewall running and is it configured to let FreeOrion run? Please post log files from immediately after this happened. freeoriond.log, freeorion.log and any AI log files updated during that playthrough. If possible, make the log files with a 10 star universe and one AI, and with the minimum amount of actions required to produce the crash after starting the program fresh. This will minimize the size of the logs and make it possible to know what part of the logs correspond to the crash you're describing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=544942&aid=2779048&group_id=75752 |
