When selecting option 9 then option 1 to install to a HD, CF or USB key for version 0.684b
the following error occurs:
"Creating mount point for the CDROM...
Mount CDROM...
Installation...

gunzip: stdout: Broken pipe

Meet a problem during file copying.
Unmount CDROM..."

I Tried the previous version: 0.68 and the install worked fine

Did you have checked whether the iso is burned correctly?

Tried two different burners on two different pc's and received the same error. Although the possibility that they both may have burned incorrectly can be possible.

Ok, thats a bad news :-( Maybe the downloaded iso file is corrupt. Did you have tested this issue?

Yeah, tried two different servers and they seemed the same. Unless I just have horrible luck :)

You have to clear the usb stick while it is not mounted, eg by
    cp /dev/zero /dev/da0s1

PS the reason it can't reformat is because it was automounted at boot time, as a place where the boot CD might save its parameters, because a valid Windows filing system was recognised on the stick. The USB Key install script should probably quietly try to umount it first.

    I can't reproduce this problem.
The device is automounted only if a config.xml is found.

Look like the install(gunzip) can’t read from the cd-rom, and Unmount CDROM... , my 0.684b install from cd-rom works as expected.
Your problem came from the cd or cd-rom drive. I get something like that when I burn on cd-rw and the cd-rom didn’t like it.

    Regards,
    Dan

Hi all, thanks for the great work !.
I had the same issue, I could not install to USB on 3 different PC's. I ended up finding a workaround by replugging in the USB so it is mounted as anything other than "DA0". When its DA1, DA2 etc it seems to work fine.
I didn't end up running a fully conclusive test after I got it working to see exactly what the issues was but suspect it just doesn't like the USB to be mounted as DA0 in some cases ?.
    This was for 0.684b only.

bug 1830506 is the same issue, I put a comment there.

Basically it's because the USB drive as da0 is already mounted and used to store the FreeNAS config file. The installation can't write to it.

It has nothing to do with the CDROM.
