I've been using MindMaps for probably twenty years, though a limiting problem I found was when the maps get very big (which seems to be the point), they become difficult to navigate. This eventually turned me off mindmapping.

There used to be a software product which allowed the following very useful features:
1) Navigate Left, right, up down, not by screen position, but by relative node heirarchy. So, up arrow moves to parent, left moves to left sibling.
2) Set a # of nodes folded above, # of nodes folded below parameter. Then, when you navigate through the map, the nodes constantly unfold in front of you, and fold behind you. Think of this as a flashlight, where you can always see three nodes down and two behind (adjustable) (and of course all siblings).

These two optional features make it much easier to navigate and make sense of large maps. I have looked for years for a product that has these again, with no luck.

Thanks,
Markus Wolfensberger
