#880 Support for "Detachable" or Floating Nodes

+1 for this recurring request.

I would be able to use (wide)screen space better. Especially useful in organizing/prioritizing.

xmind has a nice implementation of this, but otherwise it's usability is inferior.

I would totally agree with you. The following functions are definitely minimum requirements for mindmapping software in these days.
Automatic Coloring
Callouts
* Floating Nodes

I think the lack of these functions is why FreeMind looks out of date and has lost its users.
