#1289 Cursor position in text fields is incorrect in Mac version

When typing in text fields in the Mac version, the farther along you type, the more the cursor is off-track. It seems that for every 40 pixels of font character, the cursor position only advances 39 pixels (rough approximation). So, by the time you've typed 40 characters, the cursor is positioned at the beginning of the character you've just typed, rather than after it. This makes it super-difficult to type, and has been a problem for years now.
