I have been working with three versions, (1) 0.8.0 Linux
(running on Debian Sarge), (2) 0.8.0 Mac OS X (running OSX
10.2.8) and (3) 0.8.0 Unix (also tested on Mac 10.2.8).
(2) and (3) both crash, but a bit differently. (2) will
allow me to see the menu items but crashes on a "save as" or
"save" from the menu. It doesn't crash when you use the
"save" button in the toolbar.
(3) also crashes but when selecting any menu item. It
crashes as soon as you try and open a menu.
I have the full crash logs if you wish but I suspect it will
be similar to what jmsmrsh posted.
Just to add the following which I didn't see:

Hi,
hmm, the errors say that this is an error of Java deeply in
its native code. I use Mac OS X 10.3 without any menu problems.
Is it possible to update your Java version??

I think I have the most up to date Java for OSX 10.2.8. It is:
java version "1.4.1_01"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.1_01-69.1)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.1_01-24, mixed mode)
I will search if there is a newer one for Jaguar.
Would you know if the 10.3 Java is a different version? If so, which?
The developer.apple.com has a more recent version but it is a beta.
I know that I use 1.5-5 on debian. The Debian Sarge install works OK
with FreeMind.
Thanks

Hello.
I got a copy of this as it was updated. I have been using the 0.9b versions without any problems. Whatever the issue looks to be resolved. thanks for looking at it.
