I will personally be using it. But the company will not. So I will be around -----Original Message----- From: fre...@li... Subject: Re: [Freemarker-devel] where is the old API doc Hi Steve, I guess that if you really wanted, you could stick with an older release for some time if it works for you. I personally maintain a web site where I still use FM 1.7 - all templates were written for it, and I too don't have time to update. Another choice could be to give us early feedback noting that this API is significant for you, and you'd like it if we'd keep it - even if flagged as deprecated. As yet another possibility, you can always turn to us on this list if you hit a problem. I think that generally we have a very low reply latency, suitable for supporting commercial usage of the FreeMarker. We did change the API between 1.7.x and 2.0 significantly. This is why it got a new major version number. We also changed the API between 2.0 and 2.1 as well altough maybe less significantly. You are right that we are moving fast - sometimes maybe too fast. Also, I'm not sure how big is your code base, but with an IDE that has good refactoring support (i.e. Eclipse, which is free) you can relatively easily catch up. We do our best to track significant changes in http://freemarker.sourceforge.net/changes.html In this concrete situation, BeansWrapper.wrap() now replaces all XxxModel.getInstance() calls. To be true, I don't remember we had getInstance methods on bean models since they were moved to f.ext.beans. Last time they existed should have been when they were still known as org.szegedi.expose.reflect package, so the API change you mention is likely an 1.7 -> 2.0 change. Anyway, if your decision is final and you don't give us another chance then we can do nothing except to respect it... Cheers (in hope we'll still hear from you), Attila. -- Attila Szegedi home: http://www.szegedi.org ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steven Sajous" <st...@do...> To: <fre...@li...> Sent: 2002. július 24. 15:49 Subject: [Freemarker-devel] where is the old API doc > I am having a real hard time with the updates.
