I'm fine with you dropping everything but the RPM spec file, and maybe the .lsm file. Where is the proper place for a spec file, if not in the source code tree. Myself i find it very nice to download the latest tar file and run rpmbuild on it directly. It would be good to understand why the lsm file is there before just dropping it.
