to implement a text search (like the www interface) but
using freedb protocol, since more and more freedb-aware
applications are not cd-players/rippers.
i agree. i wrote an mp3 renamer/tagger and the user can't
know the cd-key and it is impossible to calculate it from
mp3s. so the prog has to do a http-request everytime it
wants to get information. that's alittle bit shitty ;-)

Thats right, this would be great.
This feature would produce not so much overhead, like an
HTTP-Request and it is much nicer to handel it.
