Report bugs! I'm bored...

Well, there's nothing to do right now for this project. You haven't reported any bugs or requested any features. If you would like something to be added to the fortune daemon, I'll add it (probably). Just say so in one of the forums or something. Or... better yet! E-mail me at swirlydude@users.sourceforge.net

Rewrite finished (I think)

Well, the feature requests and stuff like that didn't give much turn out, to say the least. So, I added as much configurability that my small mind could think up. But, since I don't know of any bugs (hah! I've hardly compiled it) feel free to report them, as descriptively as you like, that way I can fix them. Also, I need some people to port my little server to other OSes, I don't have access to MacIntoshes, Sun systems, etc. I could port it to windows, but my windows box is having a DLL crisis and so everything I compile under windows doesn't work. That's all!

Oops!

Sometimes I'm just so stupid. It turns out, I forgot to include a copy of the GPL with fortuned, however, I have declared on the site that fortuned is under the GNU GPL, so, to word it legally in reference to the fortuned package:

This software package is licensed under the terms of the GNU General Public License.

(Note: This does not apply to the required units package, as that has its license included, which, by the way, is public domain.)

Rewrite Underway...

I'm going to rewrite fortuned so that it uses the fortune program to pick the fortune. I'm also going to add a .conf file reader to the interface.

First Release

fortuned-Sol-A is the first alpha release of fortuned. The server runs on TCP port 12345 (I'm creative) and at present there is no way to change it. Also, if you want to run fortuned in daemon mode, use the -d command line option. I've decided to name the releases after celestial objects. The letter after the release name depicts what type of release: A = alpha, B = beta, no letter = final.

That's all.
