The project "translation" lists 5 owners, but none of them is reachable by mail. I tried sending a mail to their @users.sourceforge.net accounts, which came back with "550 user not found" for each of them. A test mail that I sent to my own account worked.
The project hosts some mailing lists, and the moderators of those mailing lists are inactive as well. The moderators of the mailing list "translation-team-de" are not know to the current active members of that mailing list. We'd like to be able to manage these mailing lists again.
Therefore, please make me a project owner.
Hello,
The
@users.sourceforge.netalias is being discontinued and is no longer available to new users. It remains available only for a small number of legacy accounts, but its use is still discouraged. We're not able to grant administrator privileges or appoint new administrators on request. If you need assistance or would like to discuss the availability of the current administrators, the best option is to contact one of them directly.
To do that go to the admin's profile, while logged in to SourceForge click the name of the administrator you want to contact, then click the blue "Send Message" button in the top-right corner.
Sincerely,
SourceForge Support
Thanks for the pointers. Sending a message to all 5 project admins will take a long time because sending messages is rate-limited. That's frustrating.
Just in case that none of the current project administrators answers in the next month, what is my second-best option?
Hi,
If none of the current project administrators responds, there isn't an alternative process for transferring administrative access.
In that case, your best option would be to create a new project under your own account.
That gives you full administrative control and lets you continue the work independently without relying on access to an inactive project.
Sincerely,
SourceForge Support
