Update:
I have found some help for Java.
If anyone experienced with Cassandra wants to share some insight, feel free to contact me. Thanks!
Hi!
I'm working on the GUI/HMI and database of FreeDCS (name not final) and after a fairly long planning phase I know quite well how it's supposed to work and look like.
I can generally program but don't consider myself a professional. I do want the code to be professional though (stable, coherent, well documented etc.), so if you're able and willing to help me with that you're very welcome! (contact via profile message or skype)
Technologies:
Java (up to version 8)
Apache Cassandra (probably)
encrypted communication (with Controllers programmed in C)
Linux
A bit more about the project:
DCSs (distributed control systems) are used in automation to control all kinds of processes. There are measurements in the field that gather process values and devices like pumps, valves and so on.. All those have to be connected and controlled. The DCS also provides a way for operators to interact with said devices and for the engineers to change the control programs and create process diagrams and such.
There are already quite a lot of DCSs - I work with them for a living - but innovation is rather scarce and license fees are high.. I think I've come up with enough ideas to have a realistic chance of changing something.
