PHP 5.3.3 is five years old. Please update PHP to something more modern.

Cgreen project is using Joomla 3.x for project web on Sourceforge hosting, but 3.3 requires PHP 5.3.10 at least.

Also the lack of fopen and cURL support makes updating Joomla sites so much harder.

I agree It would great if you guys could at least install PHP 5.4 on the web server. PHP 5.3 has been retired for some time now.

Adding my support to this: I'd like to install some Q&A software such as Coodino, and the only way to get a recent branch working is by having a recent version of PHP.

For projects using MediaWiki for documentation- it would be good to have at least PHP 5.5.9 available so that we could move to the next LTS release before MediaWiki 1.23.x hits its end of support in May.

PHP was upgraded to 5.4 this past February. We do plan on making further upgrades, most likely on an opt-in basis. We are leaving request [#375] for future upgrades, so you can follow that ticket if you aren't already.
