No

Larger project files and especially those over 500M could benefit from P2P transmission. I suggest you run a tracker and let p2p clients like edonkey broadcast what they have back to your tracker when they are seeding. It's secure in that the md5 hash of the original must match what is being sent in P2P. Your sponsors may even host a few trackers as it saves bandwidth and disk usage.

I support this initiative and hereby wish to revive it particularly for larger files e.g. Linux and other iso images files.
Specifically, when a new edition of a distribution or the like appears it seems impossible to download using the web interface and download managers seem to be deprecated.
See for instance the review left 2024-07-01 by an unrelated party complaining of slow download:
    https://sourceforge.net/projects/dr-parted-live/reviews/

    • that itself being an improvement on no download at all or downloads which waste SF and affiliates' resources by getting to 1/3, 1/2 etc way through and then not renewing or restarting manually or otherwise.

Also torrent clients verify the validity of the completed download via checksum automatically which saves the user having to do it manually - which invovles separately downloading a text file with the checksums in it.

Also I suggest the .txt files explaining aspects of a project, checksums etc should be made to display in-browser and not as now compel download as a discrete file when clicked on - often for as little as under 1kB.

Same point again and again relating to https://sourceforge.net/projects/dr-parted-live/ and again the latest version. Download keeps stopping and restarts de novo. Whether in browser or by other means. Waste of time even trying to get it here. Developer needs torrent option,

You may want to take a look at the German nonprofit that runs its GitHub/SourceForge analogue: Codeberg. I do not want to bash SoruceForge, because unlike many other source hosting sites it is still online and it hosts the software projects of developers that are literally too dead to pay for any SourceHut hosting fees, but I also think that the non-profit model has truly proved itself in the form of The Internet Archive (archive_dot_org) and any for-profit projects, SourceForge included, are DESIGNED TO BE CLOSED the moment the project becomes monetarily unprofitable.

If SourceForge re-organised itself to become an American version of the German Codeberg, a non-profit, preferably at the state of Washington, Seattle, Portland, area, where the U.S. Christians do not have the power to censor out Darwin evolution theory (read: genetic algorithms at computer science, machine learning, side), then the business model of SourceForge would change and allow it to provide various tools that are undermining its current advertisement based business model.

Thank You for reading my comment.
