Windows Port Coming Soon!

So the laptop with all the work on it (read: EVERYTHING) died. Gone, dead, no-worky, etc. Since then, I've ported 99% of the code to Windows and have put the Linux version on the back-burner for now (New[er] lappy does not like Arch). I've got a smidge (read: crap-ton) of formatting issues to take care of, then I'll be releasing what I have. The current build number is somewhere around 860, so there's more stuff in there. More stuff for the player to do (still not a whole lot, though), and as always, a whole lot of backend stuff.... read more

It's been too long!

I realize it has been quite a while since the last update. Since then, we've moved, settled in, I found my laptop, and I've been working on the project when I can find some free time.

I will be working a bit more on the project in the next few days. The next time the code is able to compile without errors, I will upload a copy to SF. While not a whole lot has changed gameplay-wise, the code has gone through innumerous changes.

Name Change!

Ok, so I finally got tired of waiting for SF to upgrade their backend, so I've changed the project name everywhere I could.

As for a release under the Windgate name, that's an unknown. The code is coming along, but it's a general concensus among the devs that it needs to be rewritten. So, there might be a release in a week or so, or it might be two months from now. Two of us are moving, so that's going to put a hamper on development. As of right now, though, it's up in the air.

Final Forest Quest Release Before Name Change

The last FQ release can be grabbed from the downloads section. I felt that since the code should be released in its entirety, I put the character creation code back in. The download includes the souce code, and the release file. For those who are interested, this is being programmed in CodeBlocks for Linux. You should be able to grab it and open it up, I've included the right files (I think).... read more

Source Code Release!

Along with our name change, I will be releasing the source code for our project within the week. This source code will have the character creation taken out, as it will most likely be made into a separate project, if not thrown out all together. Thoughts? Comments? Head to the forums!

We're getting a name change!

With the progression of the game's programming (and finally backing the writer into a corner until he came up with a good name), this project shall be known as Forest Quest no longer! Our project name will be changed to Windgate as soon as SF upgrades their backend and allows name changes once again!

Build 255 has been released!

Major thing to test this time is the character creation. Oh, it needs much testing. It looked fine the 10 or so times I ran it, but you never know.

Comments, questions, suggestions, etc. can either go in the forum or you can send an email with "Forest Quest" in the subject line to cj_heflin@hotmail.com.

We'd love to hear from you all!

If you've grabbed our program, and have something to say about it, please feel free to post in the forums or send an email to cj_heflin (at) hotmail (dot) com. Please put Forest Quest in the Subject Line so the junk mail filter doesn't grab it. Thanks!

1st Public Release Coming (hopefully) Today!

We, the developers, feel confidant enough in our work, that we are releasing a copy of it to the public, thus upgrading our project's status from "Pre-Alpha" to "Alpha".

Please keep in mind that this is an "ALPHA" it is a test build. It does work, but it is by far not complete (seriously, don't expect more than a minute of amusement out of it, at this point). It is meant to be a preview into our work, so you all think we're actually doing stuff. It is meant to be tested (actually, what we have right now, should work almost flawlessly). Comments, questions, and criticisms go in the forums. Thanks!
