I have just compiled the Beta4 version of Fontforge.
I can lauch it, but I can't use it: when it starts, the
graphic interface asks me to open an existing file, or
to create a new one. And whatever I choose, the program
ends up;
As I launch it from a terminal session, i can read the
error notification which is always "segmentation fault".
Do you have any answer to this issue ?
Thanks..

I come back to tell you that the problem has solved after I
downloaded the latest version of fontforge.
However, there's another..
I'm using Mandrake 10.1. I have installed the
"urw-fonts.rpm" RPM. Nevertheless, fontforge notices:
" -urw-courier-medium-r-normal--13-0-0-0-m-0-iso8859-1
existed in the font list, but when I asked for it there was
nothing.
I think I'll crash soon."
I do not own this font. I have been trying to find it. I
only found it for 33 at the URW++'s main site. I would like
to use fontforge without paying 33 for a 150 Kb file...
If you know where I would be able to download it for free....
Else, may I ask you to teach me how to modify fontforge in
order to use another similar font instead of courier...
Thanx a lot...

You don't need to by this font.
Somewhere on your system there is a fonts.dir file with an
entry for this font but which points to a bad (or
non-existant) font file. This confuses X, and that in turn
confuses fontforge.
All you need to do is remove the spurious entry.
