The FOBS home page says that encoding was the major new feature of pre03. I was hoping to use it to enable an existing JMF-enabled application to create MPEG videos.
Is this possible?

unfortunately, enconding is not available in fobs4jmf but just in the Fobs C++ library. And even worse, I don't think it will be available soon. First of all, I need to solve issues with a/v sync in the C++ side and then study the viability of exporting them to fobs4jmf.
