Support for phpBB3 Olympus

Acyd Burn today announced the availability of the first beta of phpBB3 "Olympus". The new release of phpBB contains code completely redesigned from scratch, and phpBB2 and phpBB3 are virtually 100% different in their codebases. Consequentally, when phpBB3 goes final, any and all MODifications for phpBB2 will have to be rewritten in order to work with phpBB3. This news post is intended to provide and share soome of my plans for supporting Olympus.... read more

Akismet Spam Butcher 0.1.0 Released!

Akismet Spam Butcher 0.1.0, the "Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad!" edition, has been released!
This release is still marked as [DEV] because the MOD doesn't exactly "do" anything yet. All that this MOD does so far is add an admin panel to enter your WordPress.com API Key and check each submitted post for spam. However, the check doesn't _do_ anything yet. Akismet will check each and every post to see if it is spam, and it will be tagged in the phpbb_topics and/or the phpbb_posts table as being spam or not, however regardless of what Akismet thinks, the post will still be displayed as usual. Hey, I said the MOD was still in development! ;) The next release will introduce the Spam Queue so that posts marked as spam will not be displayed but instead listed in a queue in the Admin Control Panel.... read more

Moving to CVS

I've been kind of unsatisfied with Subversion, as it has a few deficiencies in a couple of areas where I need it to work. I'm going to be, instead, using CVS for source code management/development, and will be moving over to CVS over the next few weeks. Don't expect Subversion to be updated any more.

Advanced Version Check 3.0.6 Approved!

After almost 2 months of development, over 4 months of bugfixing/submitting, and 8 submissions to the MOD Database, Advanced Version Check 3.0.6, the "I'm NOT the Decider" edition, has been approved to the MOD Database!

Advanced Version Check 3.0.6 Released

Advanced Version Check 3.0.6, the "I'm NOT The Decider" edition, has been released!
This bugfix release fixes some syntax errors inadvertantly introduced in AVC 3.0.5 which would cause the Enable/Disable Checkers page and the Version Check Log to load incorrectly, and the Admin Panel sidebar to load incorrectly as well (thanks to Wingspan69). Also, to help with compatibility for certain MODs, the xml class has been renamed to avc_xml.
Again, updating is as quick as uploading a few files.
Fingers, toes, and deep-fried pickle hearts crossed that this will be the one to make it into the MOD Database. :)

Advanced Version Check 3.0.5a Released

Due to some technical issues I had with my computer, I was not able to release Advance Version Check 3.0.5, the “Teddy Bears and XML” edition, to the general public.
However, Advanced Version Check 3.0.5a, the “Teddy Bears + XML = Tuberculosis” edition, has been released!
AVC 3.0.5 added a few things that had been on the slate for when AVC 3 was approved, but because Eric didn’t want me submitting a new release RIGHT AFTER approval (it really fills up the queue).
In regarding to the actual MOD, this release brought the MOD a little more in-compliance with the phpBB look-and-feel by adding confirmation boxes to some of the admin panels. The release has also been a bit more extensively tested with 2.0.20.
Also, the AVC download has been majorly reorganized. The MOD now offers the new MODX installation Template for installation, featuring the Fountain of Apples Edition MODX XSL (you have to open it to see it to believe it). The Text MOD Template format is also included in the contrib/ directory for users who prefer it to MODX and EasyMOD users. The update scripts will be provided in both Text Template and MODX, at the moment only the update since 3.0.3 and 3.0.4 is available in MODX.
Also, there has been numerous updates to the documentation, and the AVC MOD Authors guide is now included directly within the docs/ directory (no longer a separate download).
AVC 3.0.5a is a repack that fixes a few issues with the MODX Template and an incorrect Security Disclaimer in the FOA XSL; there were no code changes between 3.0.5 and 3.0.5a.
Again, updating is as easy as reuploading a few files! :)
Fingers and toes crossed that this will be the one to make it into the MOD Database. :)

Support for MODX

Eric and the phpBB MOD Team has announced a trial run of MODX, a new MOD Template format. Although the Text Template is still required, and I will still be supporting the Text Template (in an add-on fashion) for a good while, all upcoming releases of my MODs will include a MODX installation file, and eventually, all of my MODs will be repackaged and resubmitted with a MODX file.

Thanks for continuing to use my MODs!

Advanced Version Check 3.0.4 Released!

Advanced Version Check 3.0.4, the "Golden Super Furry Detergent" edition (don't you just love Golden Super Furry Linen?), has been released and submitted to the MOD Database!
AVC 3.0.3 was just about ready to be approved, according to my friends at the MOD Team, but dark inca found a small-but-important-enough bug with the VCNS e-mail that this update needed to be made. This has also allowed me to do more thorough testing of AVC 3.0.4 over phpBB 2.0.20, and everything should be working okay (although, as always, I could have overlooked something). Anyway, the MOD Team will be giving this update a really quick look, and hopefully it should find its way into the MOD Database soon.
Plus, the update is really simple--upload 2 files. ;)
Thanks for using AVC!
