Simplify the implementation of is_barred into a single boolean expression.

Refactoring: Simplify a ref() and a deref() into a gcref().

Update expected results of test pass to include recent bug fixes and new tests cases.

Fix a memory leak when parsing some numbers.
This leak was introduced when I fixed cnv_node_to_numnode not to free its argument when it was a string that had zero references.
Even though it made these callers more complex, I still think the change to cnv_node_to_numnode is correct.
The code base is simpler if cvn_node_to_numnode never frees its argument.

Fix a freed memory read caused by cnv_node_to_numnode when its argument has zero references.
This bug has always existed but wasn't exposed until I recently started to remove side effects from its callers.
One of the side effects which I removed removed ensured that the argument never had zero references.
I still think that removing side effects is benefial to the code base, even if it removes some hidden assumptions.

Add a test that will leak memory unless ITEM takes ownership of any node that's allocated by :erract.

Fix a bug number in a comment.
In the distant past, all SourceForge projects use the same bug number space, so the bug numbers were very large.
That was changed so that all projects had their own bug number space, and the bugs were renumbered to be much smaller.
This change invaldiated any external reference to a bug number.

Fix a regression in is_freed() caused when NODETYPE was changed from a short to an enum.
The memset of 0xCC now changes type to 0xCCCCCCCC intsead of 0xCCCC.
This regression caused me not to notice a freed memory read that I had introduced in BITAND because it wasn't detected in debug builds.
