Hi, I have been a blind flight simmer for many years, and in fact, you can find my YouTube channel here, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCU1wIIZk5MPJdtFdRUBl5TQ With It's Your Plane being dead, and there seeming to be a pretty big blind flight sim community, I am wondering if Flight Gear could be made to be accessible for the blind. You can find other comments on this topic here, http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?id=22035 <http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?id=22035&p=4> &p=4 As you can see with my YouTube videos, I am using It's Your Plane, which I stated above is dead. You will see if you watch any of my videos that I am able to run through all the checklists as well as take off, land and taxi, although I wish I could manually taxi the aircraft, and there are many other limitations with IYP such as it was supposed to be used only by voice. I actually have a pretty extensive flight control system and have on and off have been able to use it with IYP. From the posts that I have also linked to , there is going to have to be work done with the interface of Flight Gear itself to make it screen reader friendly, but that would be a good step in the right direction. I would be glad to help out in any way I can if you do work on making Flight Gear accessible. Flight Gear sound like a great flight sim, and I would like to be able to use it to continue making YouTube videos if it is made accessible, and I know a lot of other blind flight simmers would be greatful as well. Sincerely, Haylie |
