Hi All, As FSWeekend was a rare opportunity for a number of developers to meet face to face, we had a bit of a meeting after dinner on Saturday night. A big part of the discussion was integration of the OSM buildings into our scenery distribution. As you will have seen from posts from Torsten, this is something we're very excited by and want to make available ASAP. I took some notes of some of the items we discussed, and what people said they would be doing as a result. I've included the notes below. If you've got any comments on any of this, please start a new thread on the -devel mailing list as there are a whole heap of different topics here. Best regards, -Stuart - Further automation of release process James: We need person to take responsibility for windows code signing to make Windows 10 installation seem less like a virus! James to ask around for volunteers on ML. Stuart: Write script for autogen for the manual. Make modern typeface. James : Remove fgrun from default installation package. Making launcher default in qt build. - Release Quality James : think about smoke test. Probably not worth it, but would be nice to have. Gijs: His University have asked about having stable branches. We currently maintain release branches for a couple of months afterwards by merging bug fixes which Jenkins builds but don't advertise. Gijs to check if this is sufficient for his university. - HLA Torsten : Ask Matthias to release SimKit so Stuart can release his HLA code. -Buildings (osm2city) Rick: Ask osm2city team to modify tools to read directly from DB James: terrasync changes for new Buildings layer on client Torsten: terrasync server directory prep. Stuart: Think about future of STG verbs. Do we generalise for other layers? Stuart : Remove random buildings once we have worldwide coverage, disable urban shader. James : Consider what other layers do we need - roads/rail, pylons? Rick: handle shorelines better - osm buildings in the water. Torsten: extend fgelev to return Landclass. - Scenery v3.0 James : review Peter's code from forum. Ask Pete what input he needs - what data sources? - Landclass DB. Ignore lack of access to Martin's DB. Possibly look at osm DB if we need future vector data. No action. - Engagement between core devs and rest of community James: to ask for feedback on forum. Gijs : update forum software. Stuart/All : increase activity on bug tracker. Possible Rota discussed but no enthusiasm. Gijs : Provide wider Facebook, Google+ access [done]. Share Twitter account - AOB James : learn how liveries work, propose solution for automated delivery so Gijs no-longer has to maintain separate Livery DB. James : make states (engine running, cold&dark, in-air) work James : Add startup tips Torsten : Switch MP server discovery to DNS. Stuart/James: Consider participation at RAF Cosford flightsim meet Durk: write up report on fsweekend for publishing. Improvements for next years FSWeekend: - Dutch flyer - Language badges - Better tablecloths - 20th birthday theme! - Old Linux demo - 0.99 - Demo station - 1minute kiosk with landing. For customers. - Ensure we have more people than stations to make sure we are talking to people. - Announce fsweekend more widely. Carefully given constraints in numbers. Invite people to visit our booth. Action Durk. -Stuart |
