Hi Jonathan,
Please note that the FlightGear Mumble wiki had been flagged as being sabotaged:
http://wiki.flightgear.org/Talk:Mumble#Protect_page_request
I fully agreed with this assessment, as I was unaware of any public
discussion on the official FlightGear infrastructure - forum, devel
mailing list, or even wiki talk page - where all parties agreed that
the current Mumble server was to be pushed to the back and that
everyone would switch to what appears to be the FGMEMBERS-controlled
Mumble server (mumble-us.cleanvoice.com). Looking at the wiki article
talk page, you will see that it0ouchpods did not mention any reasoning
or public discussions. There is also zero information in the wiki
article history or in his original text as to why there is a "New
Mumble Server" and why it replaces the old, and there are no links to
the public discussions about switching the mumble server. Therefore
this strongly looks like an attempt to covertly change the status quo
without discussion, and without the knowledge of most of the
FlightGear community. But I am willing to be proven wrong.
Anyway, once such a discussion has taken place, ideally here on the
devel list, and all parties have stated their opinions, then the
Mumble article can be updated to reflect the current situation. This
would include text containing the reasoning as well as links to the
discussions. I suspect that those still paying for the current
FlightGear Mumble server, which is still used by most Mumble users,
will have quite a different opinion of this situation, and I look
forward to hearing from them.
Regards,
Edward
