[Flightgear-devel] Real world flying ...

I went out to the R/C club field and did some real flying with our Rascal
110 (which is represented in FlightGear if you are interested in getting
some idea of what it's like to fly.)

We captures some pictures and movies which I posted to by blog here:

One of the cool things we do with this system is that we take the position
and orientation and pitot-tube based speed as well as the stick inputs and
send them down to the ground station via a radio modem data link.  We can
then feed that data into a slaved copy of FlightGear in "real time" and the
result is a flightgear view that almost exactly and concurrently draws what
the real aircraft is doing ... all the way down to the correct control
surface deflections when you wiggle the transmitter sticks.

Do you have copies of these movies in a - let's say - 'open' file
format ?

They come as .MOV straight from the camera ... haven't looked to see what
format they reallly are.  Quicktime?  I'm heading out of town (Alaska) this
morning so you'll have to make do with youtube for the next couple days.

I see. They require some Flash Plugin and there's no such thing on
several platforms ....
