Everytime when I fly from KSJC to KRNO, In the middle of the trip, I see ocean. After that once I'm near KRNO, I see land. I've downloaded all the areas around the bay area (and basically all of California and Nevada), and still I still see ocean. I can't even spawn at KSAC (Sacramento Intl. Airport). This also happens when I'm flying to KLAX. I can spawn at KLAX too but when I make a trip from KSFO (or) KSJC to KLAX, In the middle of the trip, guess what, Ocean! I installed the scenery correctly but I always get this. Can you please help me? I'm new to flightgear and I don't know much about command lines, etc. I also want to download TerraSync but I don't know how. |

Atsuke: Welcome to the FlightGear discussions. When you download scenery from flightgear.org, it is not initially = readable by the program. What I do is, after installing it to my = desktop, I use the fgadmin program located in C:\Program = Files\FlightGear\bin\win32. (I have a shortcut of the program on my = desktop.) I do not personally use TerraSync, but you can download it = froom = cvs.flightgear.org/cgi-bin/viewvc/viewvc.cgi/source/utils/TerraSync/. = After you download the tarball, you will need the 7-zip program to = decompress it. Welcome, Quick answer, you need this file: ftp://ftp.flightgear.org/pub/fgfs/Scenery-0.9.10/w130n30.tgz untarred and place in you $FGROOT/Scenery folder. Long answer, FlightGear divides the world into small chunks we call tiles. Tiles are organized into folders (directories) containing 1 degree of longitude and 1 degree of latitude (1x1 chunks). 100 of these 1x1 chunks are organized into folders (directories) containing 10 degrees of longitude and 10 degrees of latitude (10x10 chunks). Chunks are named by listing their smallest latitude and longitude, west and south are negative numbers. By default FlightGear installs two 1x1 chunks w122n37 and w123n37 from the w130n30 10x10 chunk. These two 1x1 chunks contain many airports: 02Q 0Q2 15CA 16CA 17CA 17CL 1CL3 1Q4 23Q 2CL1 44Q 45Q 4CA3 4CA8 4Q2 55CA 59CA 5CA3 5CL2 5CL3 6Q6 8Q1 C83 CA14 CA26 CA27 CA30 CA33 CA34 CA48 CA54 CA63 CA67 CA70 CL05 CL41 CL52 CL64 CL77 CL86 K1Q4 KC83 KCCR KCSY KE16 KHAF KHWD KJMC KLVK KNRC KNUQ KOAK KPAO KRHV KSCK KSFO KSJC KSQL KTCY O29 Q99. I've installed other scenery (like Japan and New York) and it installed successfully. When I install the parts of Northern California, it doesn't show up in the airports list (KSAC for Sacramento Itnl. Airport). I've also installed Southern California (KLAX) and this tile includes the area between the Bay Area and Southern California. When I fly in the middle of here, all I see is ocean. So in other words, part of the tile is missing? Thanks for your help. The other day I flew the following mission using my F4E ( http://www.jentronics.com/fgfs/F4E.tgz ) fgfs --enable-auto-coordination --prop:/sim/view/dynamic/enabled=0 --enable-fullscreen --enable-game-mode --geometry=1024x768 --prop:/environment/params/real-world-weather-fetch=true --airport=KSJC --aircraft=F4E launch from KSJC track TACAN 107X (ECA 116.0) radial 33 until 50 DME on outbound leg direct to TACAN 126X (FMG 117.9) land at KRNO runway 16R (ATIS 135.8 ILS/DME 110.9). As you reported, somewhere around 120.98096 W 37.9987 N the scenery disappeared (Tile id 974840) it reappeared as I neared KRNO... Today I downloaded and installed w130n30 from ftp://ftp.de.flightgear.org/pub/fgfs/Scenery/w130n30.tgz (a mirror since the link I first gave you is down until at least tommorrow) and reflew the same mission. All scenery was present and looked good as far as I could see, real-world-weather-fetch put me in some serious fog for awhile. I had to do a 9-G pullup to avoid a mountain! Hi Carl, I assume you want the ufo to shine lights onto the ground? Unfortunately, as Melichor confirmed on Jan.24, material emissions do not cast light on nearby surfaces, and there are no other light sources that can, other than the Sun of course. Also, "Mathias has plans for that." So, Not yet. Hi Stewart, I am sorry for the delay, I posted this email 2 weeks ago and I thought I had answered you. I am working on a Full Flight Simulator that was manufactured in 1976, it is a Boeing 707-341. The HOST computer was a R2000, it was a 24 bit machine with 64 K words of memory. We did replace the R2000 computer for a LINUX based PC with a emulator. The Visual System is a NOVOVEW 2500, it was developed by Evans and Sutherland, and the computer is a Texas Instrument TI980 computer ( 16 bit x 16 K words). I was testing FLIGHT GEAR as a VISUAL SYSTEM replacement for this simulator, but I should have control over the exterior AIRCRAFT LIGHTS. Is there any plans to develop this functionality to Flight Gear on a short term?
