As discussed in ML thread: Sound bug on Linux / PulseAudio with OpenAL
When using the option Debug -> Reload Aircraft Model, the sound position becomes broken. Previously, sound would be lost all together, but some point during the 2020.4 development this was changed, and sound now appears, but the position is on longer updated.
As a result when you fly away, the sound gets more quiet, but when you go back to the original place, it's loud again.
Seems the position updating breaks.
Kind Regards,
Josh
Good news, I've figured this one out. @cgdae and @colingeniet did a fix in this area (that's why the sounds were no longer lost afetr a reload) but they, uh 'missed a bit' due to the rather funky interaction of FGFX and the Sound-manager.
I've now doing the fix so the old sounds are actually removed (previously they were not), and now the new sounds should be added and updated correctly.
Fixed in 20204.1, will be ported to next.
Tested with both 'reset' and 'reload aircraft model' and seems to work for both, here.
This is excellent. I've retested my "Sounds for AI aircraft" data, and it now works correctly without leaving zombie sounds when AI aircraft are deleted or AI system is switched off.
I've updated the Forum Thread here: Sounds for AI aircraft
