I'd like to make use of this feature <blockquote>Before submitting the post, you can preview it with the same formatting used in the guestbook so you can see how the formatting is going to turn out as well as correct spelling mistakes. The script also notifies you via this mechanism if you did not fill in the required fields (a name and the message itself).</blockquote>
However, I can't find the setting that enables it. Can anyone help?

Actually, you'd only have to click the "Preview Post" button instead of the "Submit Post" button.
Don't you get this button underneath the form fields? That might be a bug then, but it should be there...
Just check out the demo guestbook for this page, it is right there.

I misunderstood what the feature was. I was hoping that flatPHPbook allowed the site manager (me) to preview and approve entries before they were posted for the public, so I read that into a completely different feature.
Sorry about the confusion, and thanks for answering.

Nevertheless, I 'd also like the feature dat Lance is talking about. It would be very nice if the admin could approve entries before they are being posted publically if they 'd want too. Sometimes people put a lot of rubbish in a guestbook and even bad advertisments and in that case it would by a nice feature.

Adelheid

Hm, I am not sure at the moment if that would be possible with the current system.
I guess it would require a change in the databse file, since I would somehow have to "tag" a post as "new", "allowed", "not yet rated" or something.
This could be ahrd to do since with 1.0, I opened the database format to users, allowing their own fields at the end - meaning I could not add anything right there anymore.
I will think about whether I can come up with a solution to this, but it might not happen. I just cannot promise anything.

Just wanted to inform you I am already working on this now (just put 2 hours of time into this today), and it is actually working. Not complete yet, but it will be pretty soon.

No, not really. I am just tagging the entire post, not adding a field like "approved" or something... you'll see.
Point is: had 2 hours to waste this afternoon with only my laptop, no net, and no desire to learn for university... and instead of playing solitaire, I decided to give it a try. And after the first tests of my idea kinda worked, I just coded away... ;)

This'll be a great feature for avoiding guestbook-spam. I'm looking forward to seeing it.
Was it hard to implement?
