Hallo, I have some wishes for flashforth (I know christmas is coming late) - maybe you can help me out: Definitions taken from gforth: w! *w c-addr - * gforth "w-store" Store the bottom 16 bits of *w* at *c_addr*. hex. *u - *gforth "hex."Display *u* as an unsigned hex number, prefixed with a "$" and followed by a space. Thank you and a happy christm... äh weekend Thomas |

Hi Thomas Write config OSC = ECIO6 into config file, if you want use external oscillator instead of simple quartz. In this case you can use the pin10 (RA6) as port bit. s" Hallo FF" I want use FF (5.0) with a PIC18F2620 in UART-Mode and a 4 MHz Quarzoszillator (link to oszi<http://www.reichelt.de/Oszillatoren/OSZI-4-000000/3//index.html?ACTION=3&GROUPID=3174&ARTICLE=13706&SHOW=1&OFFSET=500&> ). In the p18f-main.cfg I change the frequency. Is something other to change in the config-files, because the oszillator is connected with only one pin (nr. 9) ? Thank You Thomas |

In the PIC->PC direction FF sends upto 16 characters per transaction. I dont know what speed that will give you. The USB capacitor is a 330 nF unit. BR Mike |

Ye-Creaping-Gods-I-Hate-This-Yahoo-Email-Interface!!! ...and the script-kiddie bozos who program the lousy thing! Whew... Now that that's out of my system... Thanks for the replies, the pdf looks helpful, I'll compare it with the FS-USB Manual schematic, and I'll check that pointer, Mike. (Is that just a bypass cap on the Vusb pin or is something more sinister going on? Will any old signal-diode do in there, or does it need current capability?) The input fron the PC isn't the issue. What I'm looking for is how to get data-rate out of the PIC that I want to use for a concentrator. Is the FF USB throtled on output like that, too? craig ...averaging may or may not help clarify data. If Bill Gates walks into a bar, the average patron becomes a millionaire... |

Craig, Look at the manual for the Microchip DM163025 Demo board for the 4550 for a schematic of a USB port directly off the 4550. Pete -----Original Message----- From: craig bair [mailto:dab...@ya...] Sent: Sunday, March 9, 2014 10:41 AM To: Fla...@li... Subject: [Flashforth-devel] PIC 18F4550 usb wiring hookup? I'm trying to see how high I can push data-rates with PIC18-s. The eusarts appear quite happy to talk to each other at 921.6Kbaud but I'm hitting a wall coming back to a host PC (Terra-Term under Win-XP for port control). The laptops with actual db-9 serial ports all seem to top out at 115.2K. The USB-RS232 adapters I've got will go 230.4K I'ld like to wire up the USB on a 4550 I've got on my bread-board, but haven't ever done that before and don't have a schematic for a working design as a roadmap. Chip docs suggest that RC5/D+ and RC4/D- can be directly connected without buffering or glue(?!). Is this true? The USB TYPE A FEMALE Mating Face Diagram I found shows 1=+5, 2=D-, 3=D+, 4=gnd. Are these direct-connect to the chip lines or do they need to be cross-wired like a null-modem? Any advice appreciated at this stage. In an almost unrelated matter, does anyone know of a way to get Yahoo-Mail to redirect replies from mail-list posts back to the mail-list rather that the individual posters? Mike's getting annoyed with me and I don't always think to originate a new list-thread for every reply/followup... Hi Craig The D+ D- don't need cross-wireing because they are not transmit/receive signal pair. Theese are bidirectional lines with normal and inverted polarity, similarly then the RS485. Don't forget the capacitor on the Vusb pin. BR Attila Herman |

Here http://www.waitingforfriday.com/index.php/Building_a_PIC18F_USB_device is a pretty good page about PIC USB devices. You wont get 921 Kbit throughput out of the USB interface because it transmits only 1 byte transactions in the direction PC to PIC. And the PIC uses quite many instructions per transaction. It is set up like this to make the implementation of KEY and RXU as simple as possible. But at least you will get the 921 kbit interface speed. BR Mike |

Craig, Here is my take on calculating the spbrg value. It takes the CPU clock from Fcy and the baudrate and baudgenerator prescaler (16 or 64) is given as input. Not difficult at all. Just normal 16-bit Forth integer scaling stuff. $ffaf constant spbrg spbrg c@ . 18 ok<#,ram> : >spbrg ( double-baud brg-prescaler -- n ) >r #100 um/mod nip >r Fcy #40 um* r> um/mod nip r> / 1- ; 38400. 16 >spbrg . 18 ok<#,ram> |

Hi Craig, Here is in general about git http://git-scm.com/ http://git-scm.com/book/en/Getting-Started-About-Version-Control http://git-scm.com/downloads And here about git at sourceforge https://sourceforge.net/p/forge/documentation/Git/ Here you can find uq/mod https://sourceforge.net/p/flashforth/code/ci/master/tree/PIC18/forth/qmath.txt \ Divide a 64 bit unsigned number with a 32 bit unsigned number \ The result is a 32 bit remainder and 32 bit quotient uq/mod ( qu du -- du-rem du-quot ) https://sourceforge.net/p/flashforth/code/ci/master/tree/PIC18/forth/qmath.txt But instead of loading uq/mod I would prefactor and scale (divide Fcy and the UART rates by 100) and use the 32/16 bit words. You don't need 32 bit accuracy for the UART rates. Hi Attila, I tried it and it worked just fine. Can I put it in the distribution with your name on it ? You can also make your own wiki page under the flashforth project if you want. Actually it would be good to have contributor git repos. But I haven't checked if/how it can be done in sourceforge. Hi Mikael I have tested all timers, they work fine. Thanks for implementing. Accidentally I have sent you a mail the to <mik...@pp...> instead of the mailing list. I am interested in your opinion connected to my VT100 wordset. BR Attila |

Hej Anders I once looked at it but the MIPS assembly was ugly. You have to push and pop the return stack manually for each subroutine call. But still its doable. I don't think I have time to do it for quite a while. I also need to do some other stuff than write new Forths :-) If you want do it thats fine with me. Anyone ? Yes well, FlashForth was designed to hold your hand to a degree. Specifically the idea was to make it impossible to nuke the FF kernel. Having to re-flash the kernel all the time would be a nuisance, and ugly. 0 BASE ! nuked the kernel somehow, but now 5.0 catches divide by 0 exceptions so that is not a problem. Not even EMPTY helped, I dont really understand why, since the kernel is write protected, but now it will never happen. 1 BASE ! does not nuke it, but on PIC18 writes some crapola into eeprom, so that you can only recover with EMPTY. On PIC24 and Atmega a restart is enough to clear the situation. I guess all the other bases are fine ($2-$ffff).
