Hello everyone, this is Patrick Greene, the lead developer at Evo Technologies. We are starting the Fireworks project to fill a void in the open source market. Namely, that of Setup Package GUI's for the Windows operating system.

Fireworks is going to be an open source alternative to expensive packages such as InstallShield and Wise and will be built around the Windows Installer (MSI) platform.

The application is going to lend itself favorably to automation including build processes. This means a rich object model, XML integration, a command line interface, and tasks for NAnt and MSBuild. Who knows what else?... read more
