Hi, I installed Firestarter using emerge w/ Gentoo and it seemed to install fine. I found where it was installed, ranned it and the wizard window came-up. Unchecked all DHCP options as I'm using a 56k modem to access my ISP Network Device Setup checked run on dial-up so it would load then. In detected devices: ppp0 as I'm using kppp to dial out in KDE. Internet Connection Sharing Setup The same in Enable Network Address Translation and I checked Autodetect internal network IP range. Network Serveur Setup checked Disable public access to all services Type Of Service Filtering Setup Cheked Disable ToS filtering ICMP Filtering Setup Disable ICMP filtering This was the first try and I got nothing + couldn't stop the firewall as I always get Fail to Stop the Firewall, unable to determine error. Tried it with all services abled and get the same error. Plus can't access the internet if I don't disable everything as well as Run on dial-up. I don't even get any hits in the firewall window but in the bottom left it says: firewall running. Even with everything checked. And always whatever the setup, I get the same error when I try to Stop the firewall. I hope somebody will take the time to help me cause I really need it. This is my first time using Linux and I don't like to be connected without a firewall. |
