I was only trying to help you out. My reply to you was not written with the intent you took it. I have never had a problem with Quake or any other gaming software title and you can see by searching Google that many other people have worked around these problem with various firewalls. The problem is that you are trying to blame Firestarter when the problem really lies with your lack of knowledge of how firewalls work in general (and Gamespy). I saw your post on LinuxQuestions.org, good luck in finding an answer to your problem. The instructions for how to recompile your kernel can be found on Firestarter's homepage. Of course, with modern Linux distributions, there is almost never, ever a need to recompile your own kernel. |
