I am attempting to upgrade our systems from Data Junction 7.5.5 to Data Integrator 8.6, the most recent incarnation of the Data Junction product. To connect to my Firebird 1.5 database, I need to create a DSN using the Firebird ODBC driver. This driver has worked when attaching to the Firebird database from MSAccess and other products, but attaching with Data Integrator does not work. Let me describe the setup and the symptoms. =20 On my Windows XP Pro SP1 machine, I have installed Firebird 1.5 as a service and the Firebird ODBC driver version 1.2 using the Aug 26, 2004 full install. I have also installed Pervasive's Data Integrator 8.6 with an evaluation license. I created a DSN for my Firebird database which works when tested in the DSN definition form, and when used to link to an Access database. When I create a new "map" to port data from my Firebird database to any other target (the target doesn't seem to matter), I select the ODBC 3.x connector, the DSN for my Firebird database, the correct user name and password, and try to connect. Usually, when I initiate the connection by asking for a list of available tables, I get a full list, and I can select one of the tables. Then, when I try to browse the data, the Map Designer application just disappears, pffft! Very puzzling. =20 At the suggestion of Pervasive's technical support staff, who have really been very helpful, I have tried both the EasySoft ODBC driver and the Gemini ODBC driver, and they work. That would be okay, but I would rather not spend the money if it's not necessary, and I don't think they are supported as well as this one. I would rather support the Firebird ODBC project. =20 So, there are several questions that spring from this. First, has anyone else had this experience with Pervasive Data Integrator? If so, how were you able to solve it using the Firebird ODBC driver? =20 If this problem has not been encountered before, what would you developers need to replicate this problem and fix it? I will see what I can do to assist with this effort, but I am not an ODBC developer myself, and have no desire to be. =20 Please reply offline to me if you like. I will be subscribing to the list server very soon to see any discussion this generates. Thank you all very much! =20 Jeff Jones Project Manager MCSO Business Systems Development 602-876-4048 J_...@mc... =20 =20 |
