But don't study it in depth as long as you don't write new docs from
scratch. Do use a good XML Editor though, preferably one that can
validate if your translation is still proper DocBook XML. You'll
find pointers in the abovementioned guide. BTW, it's also available
in PDF format:

To set up the toplevel document firebirddocs-de.xml and the
directories underneath, you could take the French structure and
translate it. Or I could set it up for you.
