Wrong parameters usage when using restriction on catalogr/schema on non-table schema tables ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Key: DNET-489 URL: http://tracker.firebirdsql.org/browse/DNET-489 Project: .NET Data provider Issue Type: Bug Components: ADO.NET Provider Affects Versions: 3.0.2.0 Reporter: Jiri Cincura Assignee: Jiri Cincura Calling ".GetSchema("Procedures", new[] { null, "dbo", "test" });" results into: SELECT null AS PROCEDURE_CATALOG, null AS PROCEDURE_SCHEMA, rdb$procedure_name AS PROCEDURE_NAME, rdb$procedure_inputs AS INPUTS, rdb$procedure_outputs AS OUTPUTS, rdb$system_flag AS IS_SYSTEM_PROCEDURE, rdb$procedure_source AS SOURCE, rdb$description AS DESCRIPTION FROM rdb$procedures WHERE rdb$procedure_name = @p0 ORDER BY rdb$procedure_name FirebirdSql.Data.FirebirdClient Information: 0 : Parameters: FirebirdSql.Data.FirebirdClient Information: 0 : Name:@p0 Type:VarChar Used Value:dbo FirebirdSql.Data.FirebirdClient Information: 0 : Name:@p1 Type:VarChar Used Value:test So the wrong parameter is used and another parameter is generated even if nod needed nor used. Shutting down a database means that the Firebird server will not accept any connections for a specific database (or only accepts a single admin connection). Depending on the exact config you can even force the server to close existing connections. This is a much cleaner way than assuming that the manual work to close connections is sufficient, or that your applications is the only one to connect. You can use FbConfiguration (in FirebirdSql.Data.Services) to shutdown a database. Mark ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Everyone hates slow websites. You shouldn't need to perform a server shut-down to perform a restore, and do not need to ever to perform a backup, though it's up to you if you choose to. What you would need to do is make sure all connections to the database are closed. If you are using the .NET ADO.NET provider only, you will by default probably be using connection pooling. As such, you will likely need to have a call to FbConnection.ClearAllPools(); That should drop all connections from the local perspective. It will not help with any other machines connected to the database however. After a short pause to let any kind of clean up that's required to occur, you should be able to restore a database backup to that instance. You can subscribe a method to the "ServiceOutput" event. I have usually switched it off, because means a performance penalty, but for debugging I usually turn it on. Here is a small example which should put you into the right direction. All you need to do is to write "e.Message" from the ServiceOutputEventArgs e into a RichTextBox or similar. FbBackup works the same as FbRestore in that aspect. internal delegate void OnRestoreResultEventHandler(object sender, ServiceOutputEventArgs e); internal static event OnRestoreResultEventHandler OnRestoreResult; FbRestore _Restore = new FirebirdSql.Data.Services.FbRestore(); _Restore.ServiceOutput += new ServiceOutputEventHandler(_Restore_ServiceOutput); ... ... ... private static void _Restore_ServiceOutput(object sender, ServiceOutputEventArgs e) { if (OnRestoreResult != null) OnRestoreResult(_Restore, e); } > Hello everyone > I have a question, when using the fbbackup on .net have a way to > know if the backup was completely sucesfull??? > And wirh fbreatore?? > Enviado pelo meu Windows Phone mit freundlichen Grüßen, André Knappstein EDV und Controlling ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ beta Eigenheim- und Grundstücksverwertungsgesellschaft mbH Hafenweg 4 59192 Bergkamen-Rünthe Telefon: +49 2389 9240 140 Telefax: +49 2389 9240 150 e-mail: kna...@be... It will give an exception if there is a problem. you have to set Verbose = True on FbRestore/FbBackup so that the program blocks until the backup is complete. restore.Verbose = True AddHandler restore.ServiceOutput, Sub(sender As Object, e As ServiceOutputEventArgs) End Sub On Fri, Mar 22, 2013 at 1:30 PM, Nicolas Timmers <nft...@ho...>wrote: > Hello everyone > > I have a question, when using the fbbackup on .net have a way to know if > the backup was completely sucesfull??? > > And wirh fbreatore?? > > Enviado pelo meu Windows Phone > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Everyone hates slow websites. Thanks, that got the update to work. The download side is confusing, it looks like the msi package is for all the listed versions of .NET. not just 4.5. Now if I can figure out why I can not create a new entity data model. I get the HRESULT E_FAIL ComException, but I suspect that has something to do with Visual Studio. Ok, I've rolled back the DDEX to the previous version of 2.0.5, but I am still getting the same error. So, do you mean that the latest data provider is for 4.5 also? Ok, I just saw that version 3.0 was for VS 2005 thru 2012 and thought it would support other .Net versions, not just 4.5 framework. Now I just have to find my old DDEX installation package in my archives. Unless it is buried on the Firebird website someplace? I just upgraded to Firebird 2.5.1, .NET provider 3.0.2.0, and DDEX 3.0.0.0. for Windows (7 64-bit). On the previous versions of the tools, I had created an entity data source with no problem. Now when I try to upgrade that data source, The wizard gives the error "... An exception of type 'System.Data.ProviderIncompatibleException' occurred. The error message is" 'The store data provider failed to return information for the StoreSchemaDefinition request.' ... The inner exception caught was of type 'System.MissingFieldException', with this error message" 'Field not found: 'System.Data.Common.DbProviderManifest.StoreSchemaDefinitionVersion3'.'." If I try to create a new entity data source in this, or a new solution, I get the error "An exception of type 'System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException' occurred while attempting to launch Entity Data Model Wizard. The exception message is 'Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component.'" Since I can manipulate and create a database. The libraries and .NET provider look OK. The problem seems to be with the DDEX provider. I have gone through the README. Everything looks like it installed OK, the assemblies are in the GAC, the machine.config looks correct. The only thing is the *.reg files, which aren't in the DDEX 3.0 installation package. I assume that the .msi installation file takes care of that. My question is, what are they proper registry entries? Or is there something else I am missing? I have been scouring the web for solutions the past two days to no avail. Brian |

Hello, I am using Windows 7 and Visual Studio 2012. I upgraded a project from Visual Studio 2010 and installed the new .net provider (NETProvider-3.0.2.0.msi). After uninstalling the old version, it installed file but it does not seem to install the components needed to "Update Model from Database". This is the error I get: An exception of type 'Microsoft.VSDesigner.Data.Local.ConnectionStringConverterServiceException' occurred while attempting to upgrade from database. The exception message is:''. Also, when I attempt to connect to a Firebird database using the "Server Explorer", Firebird is not listed. Any ideas?? Michael Eubanks |
