I have created a Firebird database (C:\CMDRPT.FDB). When I am in Visual Studio.NET and using C#, I am trying to add a data form. The data form wizard asks me some questions. It has a Data Link Properties page. The first tab is for Provider and there are only OLE DB providers in the list. Do I have to place the firebird .net data provider into a special folder, etc. Also the second tab on the Data Link Properties page is a connection test. I am using server name of local host and using "C:\CMDRPT.FDB" as the database on the server. I can not connect to the Firebird DataBase. Thanks, Austin Sauls |

Hello: > Any suggestions? In the development machine do you have the Firebird .NET provider assembly in the GAC ?? in that case are you making refernce to that assembly ?? if yes, maybe you need to install the Firebird .NET Data Provider in the GAC in the new computers. -- Best regards Carlos Guzmán Álvarez Vigo-Spain |

.> I have had difficulties with large inserts (> 16000). Do you experience .any? .No, but i have tested large inserts ( using AS3AP benchmark, up to .500000 inserts ) but no using DataSets, can you post a code snippet ??, .i can try to a test if needed. This is part of a routine to store any dataset into the database, so I create the SQL for the table as well (although the code is not yet complete). Hello: > I have had difficulties with large inserts (> 16000). Do you experience any? No, but i have tested large inserts ( using AS3AP benchmark, up to 500000 inserts ) but no using DataSets, can you post a code snippet ??, i can try to a test if needed. -- Best regards Carlos Guzmán Álvarez Vigo-Spain |

Hi, =20 In my test case, i insert many (about 10'000) rows (row by row) into a table:=20 =20 for (int il =3D 0; il < 10000; il++) { myCommand->CommandText =3D String::Format("INSERT INTO = punktetabelle(PTNR, XP, YP, ZP) Values('{0}', '1.11', '2.22', '3.33')", il.ToString()); myCommand->ExecuteNonQuery(); } =20 This is very slow (about 1 minute). When i do the same in a Stored = Procedure the speed is ok (about 1 second). Is this normal? I know that the .Net Provider communicate always via TCP/IP.... do this 10000 = insert-statement produce so much overhead??? Is there a "quicker" way to insert many rows into a table via the .Net Provider? =20 thanks, thomas =20 =20 |

Hello: > Does DataAdapter localy make unique identifiers (on server defined with > triggers/generators)? Huummm can you confirm that the sample of the training session referes to the DataAdapter class and not the DataSet class ?? ( i have done a little test and the DataSet generates a new id for a new column if it have set AutoIncremement, AutoIncrementSeed and AutoIncrememtStep properties ) -- Best regards Carlos Guzmán Álvarez Vigo-Spain |

Hello All! Recently we have added the non-standard behaviour in class FbCommandBuilder. But in principle there is else new features, which wanted see! So for instance presently are completely ignored type of the field NULLABLE/NOT NULL, and at building of the request is considered that he NULLABLE, because of what unjustified is built more heavy request, but exactly so works SqlClient, which consider the standard. However want to have a normal generator request, which could work better :-) I offer to do the new class FbCommandBuilderEx, which will possess all specific features (and standard too), but standard FbCommandBuilder -- will remain only it is correct to adjust FbCommandBuilderEx. Thereby we shall be able not breaking standard ;) liberally add the new possibilities. :-) Opinions? -- Best regards, Dmitry mailto:fd...@ua... |

No, in first place it's going to be developed by Abel Eduardo Pereira, i will help too, it will depend in the time he has for doing it and the documentation on how to do it that is very poor ;) -- Best Regards Carlos Guzmán Álvarez Vigo-Spain |

You can modify too the nant config file for set the default framework to the one you are using. -- Bets regards Carlos Guzmán Álvarez Vigo-Spain |

Hi, Too sad for me to say I still hadn't solve the problem... I tried in = another platform e.g. Win2k but unfortunely I still have the same = problem when I tried on the=20 FirebirdNETProvider1.5.1-NET1.1 on the vbnetexample....=20 I think of another alternative is to build the = FirebirdSql.Data.Firebird.dll using nant...[I had download the = FirebirdNETProvider1.5.1-Src.zip and nant-0.84.zip] But I am not = familiar with it plus what the readme.txt had mentioned:- For build it you only need to exececute nant on the same directory as = the build file. Hello, If I have a ';' in a varchar attribute's data, then any command which involves that attribute fails. Is there a solution to this problem. This happens not just for ; but also for ' apostrophie contained in a attribute value. How am I supposed to write insert and update statements where attribute values contain such special characters. The moment ; is parsed by teh .NEt prov, it thinks that the command has reached its end even though the ; is contained between 2 ' ' such as 'Jimmy;s'. Please Help! Regards, Samrat. |
