Anyway, for you other non-techies out there...the FAR 2.01 plus Java JRE 8 combination works on my Windows 10 machine. uninstall Java JRE on your computer (this is Windows. MAC people do your research) https://www.java.com/en/download/help/uninstall_java.html install JRE 8 https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/javase-jre8-downloads.html FAR version 2.01 https://sourceforge.net/projects/findandreplace/files/findandreplace/2.0.1/

Hey, just a non-tech person here. Wondering why this has not been fixed yet? Seems like if you're going to upgrade an app it should work with current version required JRE.

BTW: It might work with jre 11 as this combiniation works for me. Though it would be odd if it would work for 11 but not for 8. I'll check that.

Removed JRE 1.6 Installed JRE 1.8 v2.03 far.exe fails with error message "Get Java 6 ..." v2.03 far.bat works. So I can use it with the far.bat file until you compile a new .exe. Thank-you HTH Neil

Hi Olivier I have gone back a version (2.02) and downgraded java to 1.6 (that was hard to find!). That works. I’ll upgrade both tomorrow and let you know what happens. It’s late here (Denmark). Thanks Neil

Hi Neil, thank you for reporting this issue. What happens if you run the .bat file that comes with FAR from the windows command line (CMD)? Does it work? If not, please post the errors you get here. Best regards, Olivier

Further to my report of November 14, I just tried version 2.0.3 in Mac OSX 10.14.6 (Mojave) and it still crashes on startup. Error message reported by console: Dec 3 17:32:24 com.apple.xpc.launchd[1] (net.pandoragames.FAR.165784[3237]): Service exited with abnormal code: 1. Hope it can be fixed! Thanks.

Where exactly did you drop what to get this error? Please elaborate. Again: Import is only for a list of files. Usually one that you have previously exported.

You can store and load a Find operation via menu Search > Load/Save This should retain the settings you mentioned and might provide what you are looking for. Since FAR is a RegEx GUI in the first place, I am reluctant to make these settings persistant.

Encoding is set to UTF-8 and still it doesn't work to find czech characters.

This is most likely an encoding problem. Please check the following: Default encoding at FAR > Settings > Encoding: Default Encoding File extension of the files you a looking for: .txt or .docx or ... ? * Encoding for that specific file type at FAR > Settings > File Type Please report your findings here. When czech characters are in content pattern and the files contain it, it doesn't find them (with or without regular expression).

Hi Rainer, You cannot currently process sequences of Find&Replace job, but you can save and load any particular search ("Find") and Replace job (configuration), including of corse the regular expression itself. If you specify your requirements a little more detailed, I might consider putting it on the wishlist, but I cannot promise to put it into code any time soon. Best regards, Olivier

What concerns the first question, to find text with czech characters, you could look for a set of characters like this [říšžčkýůňúěáéó] (this expression finds any one of the listed characters). Concerning question two: This effect is likely due to a mismatch between the actual file encoding (utf-8 ?) and the encoding far assumes for html files, which is per default the platform encoding (iso 8869-2 ?).
