Once you figure out that you need to execute the FAR.bat file and not the FAR.exe file, it works absolutely great. (If you try to execute the exe file, it will promptly inform you that you that the Java runtime environment is missing. The bat file executes the FAR exe with the appropriate Java commands). Anyway, Find And Replace does a wonderful job at performing just about any find and replace function you can think of. And I can think of a lot. I would have given this 5 stars if it had been more obvious that you needed to execute the FAR.bat file to get it to work, thus I gave it one less star.

I used FAR while porting MSVC code to GCC. Nice tool for large nested folders and files.

It Works! Something KFileReplace has not done. Very simple to use. Self-Explanatory. launch from either command line or create a KDE launcher. easy. and did i mention, it Works! Thanks, Landis.

This can give you a dangerous feeling that you have looked for a string in and not found it when in fact the string really exists. In other words it has a few false negatives!

This is a very useful application. There is a functionality I would like to see: If I am looking for occurrences of a string in a set of source files, I would like to see these occurrences highlighted when I open the file from within FAR. Dont pay attention to DYCorp's review. That guy needs to learn about regular expressions.
