Hi everyone, I've got a tc electronic impact twin that I'd like to use on my Debian 6.0, linux 2.6.32-5-486, using libffado 2.0.1+svn1856-5, and jack 1.9.6~dfsg.1-2. (all downloaded with apt-get). I use a pci firewire card, to connect my TC electronic impact twin to my computer, that seems to be recognized: #lspci 02:09.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Texas Instruments TSB43AB23 IEEE-1394a-2000 Controller (PHY/Link). Then, with the impact twin switched on, after observing that ardour did not detect the card, I tried the following: # jackd -R -d firewire jackdmp 1.9.6 Copyright 2001-2005 Paul Davis and others. Copyright 2004-2010 Grame. jackdmp comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY This is free software, and you are welcome to redistribute it under certain conditions; see the file COPYING for details no message buffer overruns no message buffer overruns JACK server starting in realtime mode with priority 10 02952666965: (ffado.cpp)[ 92] ffado_streaming_init: libffado 2.999.0- built Oct 17 2010 01:00:13 02952779858: Error (bebob_avdevice.cpp)[ 96] probe: Number of channels command failed 02952827656: Error (avc_avdevice.cpp)[ 89] probe: Subunit info command failed firewire ERR: FFADO: Error creating virtual device Cannot attach audio driver JackServer::Open() failed with -1 no message buffer overruns Failed to start server This seems to validate what is written in your supported device list http://www.ffado.org/?q=devicesupport/list&page=3 Indeed, the impact twin is not there. However, as some other TC electronic cards are supported by ffado, I'm wondering whether if with some more investigation (like downloading new versions of ffado software, configuring ,etc) I could make the impact twin work, or whether the needed effort consists in reverse engeneering this device and develop a new driver :) Thanks in advance, and congratulations for all what you have already achieved in this project ! -- Ion |
